AP government to invest Rs575 crore in poultry sector

With an eye on becoming the biggest egg and poultry meat producing state in the country, the AP government has announced the Poultry Development Policy and also has planned an investment of around Rs 575 crore over a period of the next four years in the state.

Visakhapatnam: With an eye on becoming the biggest egg and poultry meat producing state in the country, the AP government has announced the Poultry Development Policy and also has planned an investment of around Rs 575 crore over a period of the next four years in the state.
According to the state government, the investment will lead to additional revenue generation of Rs 6,775 crore in the next four years and generate direct employment to around 1.68 lakh families and indirect employment to around 6 lakh families in the state.

As part of its efforts to promote the poultry industry, the state government is planning to support establishment of egg processing units in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. It will also set up of primary egg processing and collection centres in the state. In addition to this, chicken processing units in cities such as Chittoor, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam are also part of the plan to process dressing of birds in PPP mode.
